The Origami Hub
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Passive Cooling & Parametric Shading

Commercial Innovation & Mixed-Use
Inspired by Parametric Origami, the building's skin is a series of structural folds that create self-shading zones. Each facet of the facade is calculated to deflect direct solar radiation, while the deep "creases" house the vertical sky-gardens that provide a cooling effect to the building's core.

Designing a high-density commercial hub in the harsh Riyadh climate required a solution that balanced massive glazing with extreme heat protection. The primary hurdle was maintaining panoramic city views while adhering to strict sustainability and energy-efficiency mandates under Saudi Vision 2030.

The Design Process

01 Analysis Site topography and solar-path mapping in Riyadh. 02 Strategy Developing the parametric origami facade algorithm. 03 Design Integrating biophilic sky-terraces and structural cantilevers. 04 Delivery Technical documentation for high-performance steel and glass systems.
